MY APPROACH TO COUNSELLING

As a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I believe each individual's view of the world is unique and you have a right to acceptance and respect. I will try to understand how you experience your life, without being critical or judgemental. The expert on you is YOU, and the answers you seek are mostly within. I simply try to help you find them.

There are, however, no guarantees!

COUPLE COUNSELLING.

My approach is similar, but, of course, there are two of you. I will try to ensure you both have sufficient space to express yourselves. I will not take sides, but will concentrate on what goes on between you, and help you find your way forward, be it together or not.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

Not at all! Many people prefer to talk things through with family and friends, whilst others find talking to a stranger allows them to express thoughts and feelings, which would be difficult to reveal to those they care about.

If it seems better help can be gained elsewhere, I will let you know. This may be another counselling approach, of which there are many, or some other form of assistance.

COUNSELLING - WHAT'S INVOLVED?

The number of sessions is not easy to gauge. If you have a very specific problem, we may need only a few sessions. More complex issues may take much longer. These are matters that we can discuss at the first session and review regularly thereafter.

Sessions last up to one hour and are usually weekly or fortnightly.

I work flexible hours and my fees are from £40 per session.

We can have a brief phone discussion to see if it seems worth having an initial exploratory session. You will then get more of a sense of me and whether you will feel comfortable working with me. As I have written this site myself, that process has already begun!
